AID SLATED FOR HOMELESS YOUTH.(Local)

Albany County has launched a program to aid the estimated 1,000 runaway and homeless young people in the county.

"It's something that has been in the planning stages for almost two years now," said Susan Cox, associate executive director of Equinox, an Albany- based agency that provides counseling and shelter for runaway and homeless youths.

Charles S. Caputo, 25, a Scotia native, will serve as coordinator. The position resulted from the study conducted by the county Council of Community Services.
